Yuma High season ends
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Yuma High's best season in five years came to an end Tuesday.
The Criminals lost 12-2 to Willow Canyon for its second loss in the double-elimination 5A Division II state softball tournament.
Yuma finished the season with 18 wins and reached the postseason for the first time since 2003.
"It was difficult for us to go out that way, but I'm extremely proud of the way the team played this season," Yuma coach Liz Huyck said. "No one expected us to get this far except us. We knew what we were capable of. They need to keep their heads up."
Jazmin Reed and Larissa Espinoza each had a hit and scored a run. Espinoza was also solid in a relief appearance. Malina Montenegro had an RBI double.
