Player to watch: With its star players gone from last year, Yuma Catholic returns only Wren from the varsity team last year.
Yuma Catholic coach Greg Abbot's comments: "Some of the freshmen that have come in are a lot more athletic. It's a very competitive team."
The lowdown: Abbot is focused more on the future with freshmen like F Sydney Mixon and F/G McKena Zamora playing huge roles on the team this year. In all, here are 12 freshmen that may see time on the varsity team. Record-setting guard Ashley Wirtzberger played her senior year last year. Her dad, Shamrock coach Bill Wirtzberger, and sister, junior guard Alex Wirtzberger, left in the offseason.
