Weddle finishes 83rd at U.S. Olympic Trials
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Katelyn Weddle's bid for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing ended in the preliminary round for the 100-meter breaststroke at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Omaha, Neb.
The 17-year-old soon-to-be senior at Kofa placed 83rd out of the top 105 100-meter breaststrokers in the country Monday, with a time of one minute, 13.08 seconds.
Weddle qualified for the trials in March with a time of 1:11.08, which was a full second under the cut.
During her junior year, Weddle won the state championship in the 100 breast, was the 2007-08 The Sun/Yuma Rotary Club's Female Swimmer of the Year and female athlete of the year.
She'll have another chance to make the Olympic cut in four years when she is a junior in college.
