Comments 0 | Recommend 0The Yuma Catholic girls cross country team finished fourth at the Lake Havasu Invite on Saturday.
The Shamrocks finished with 102 points, led by Samantha Barczynski's 20th-place finish in a time of 23 minutes and 10 seconds on the 3.1 mile hilly course.
She was followed by Devon Graham (22, 23:30), Sarah Wentling (26, 23:36), Jackie Hill (35, 24:17) and Rachel Harman (36, 24:19).
Coach Ralph Farr was extremely pleased with the result, considering this was the first time all of his top runners were running together.
"It was a good race," Farr said. "We are headed in the right direction."
More than 60 girls competed in the race, representing more than 10 different schools.
Brawley (23) was the girls overall champion, followed by Havasu (57) and then Las Vegas-Bishop Gorman.
Kofa was sixth with 144 points. Yuma High was eighth with 175. San Luis participated but did not have enough runners to field a team.
