Ledgerwood ninth at Doug Conley Invite
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Only the best runners in the state are invited to compete at the prestigious Doug Conley Invite at Kiwanis Park in Tempe.
And Kofa's Stephanie Ledgerwood beat most of them Saturday.
Ledgerwood completed the 3.1 mile course in 19 minutes, 27 seconds to place ninth out of 148 runners.
"She did an exceptional job," Kofa coach Charlie Splawn said of Ledgerwood. "There was only about a 40-second gap between her and first place. She's right where she wants to be right now."
The Doug Conley Invite brings together the top 20 teams in the state, as well as the top eight girls.
Ledgerwood placed second at the state meet in 5A Division II last year.
