Gila Ridge picks up first win

The Hawks picked up their first win of the season Friday as Gila Ridge shut out Blythe-Palo Verde 3-0.
 
Kelli Wieczorek, Shawnee Machin and Nadia Babbitt scored a goal for the Hawks (1-5 overall) and Myranda Ochoa and Karla Grijalva each tallied an assist. Goalkeeper Lena Tomlin was credited with the shutout, but did not record a save in the match.
 
The Hawks' next game will be Jan. 8 against Yuma High.
