Sidewinders down Kings in 5
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The San Luis volleyball team secured the third seed in Saturday's Gila Valley Region tournament, topping Kofa 16-25, 25-21, 19-25, 25-21, 15-10.
Joana Ramirez had nine kills, while Alex Wong had five and 16 assists for the Sidewinders (10-6, 6-4 region). Deana Lopez had six kills. Lopez opened the final game serving 10 straight points including five aces to take control against the Kings (5-12, 2-8).
"We had a slow start but we turned it back around," San Luis coach Patty Harvick said. "Both teams had their good moments and they had their horrible moments. It was a lot of up and down, back and forth."
The tournament will be hosted by regular season champ Cibola. The Sidewinders play Lake Havasu - which beat San Luis twice this year. The Sidewinders entered Tuesday 13th in power points, although a win in the tournament would guarantee a playoff spot.
