Three local teams in playoffs, none to host

Four teams from the six-team 5A Gila Valley Region made the playoffs, but none of them will be hosting a first-round game Tuesday.

In 5A-II, Cibola, as high as No. 3 two weeks ago, earned the No. 12 seed and will travel to No. 5 Horizon. No. 14 Yuma will travel to No. 3 Centennial. Lake Havasu, which earned an automatic bid by winning the region tournament, finished in the top 16 anyway, but barely, taking the final spot. The Knights face No. 1 Ironwood Ridge.

In 5A-I, San Luis will make its first appearance in the volleyball playoffs, but as the 16 seed will face undefeated top seed Xavier. All games are 7 p.m.
