Kings win on windy afternoon

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

The Kofa girls golf team's scores were a bit higher than usual thanks to a sandstorm that blew through Yuma on Wednesday, but the Kings still beat Westwood and Mesa by a wide margin.

Taylor Thomas shot a 45 to lead the Kings' team total of 200 at Desert Hills Golf Course. Mesa was second with 271 and Westwood came in third at 295.

Kofa's other scores came from Amanda Garcia (46), Cera Ford (54) and Alyssa Slade (55).

"We were a little off today," Kofa coach Eric Krepps said. "If you look at their scorecards they got pretty interesting once the winds picked up. It's not easy playin in 30-40 mile-per-hour winds."
