Ramirez leads Sidewinders in sweep of Cibola
Comments 0 | Recommend 0San Luis picked up its second-straight win against Cibola, sweeping the Raiders 25-18, 25-22, 25-14. The loss ended Cibola's four-match winning streak. Prior to the match Cibola (11-4 overall, 10-2 5A Gila Valley Region) had been ranked as the No. 3 team in the AIA's power rankings.
"We just didn't play well," Cibola coach Vivian Klee said. "We had service errors, we had hitting errors and our big hitters couldn't hit anything."
Cibola was led by Katie Davidson who finished the match with 12 kills.
"We still have a chance (to win region), we're not out of it," Klee said.
San Luis' Joana Ramirez led the Sidewinders with 11 kills and Cindy Zambrano added five. Deana Lopez also had four aces.
"They wanted it, they played hard," San Luis coach Patty Harvick said. "They knew they could beat this team if they played well."
San Luis (9-6 overall, 6-6 GVR) will close out its season Thursday when the team travels to Kofa.
