Cibola opened the boys tennis season with an 8-1 drubbing of Barry Goldwater on Tuesday.
The Raiders (1-0) swept the six singles matches and took two in doubles. No. 1 Albert Castro did not give up a game, winning 6-0, 6-0. No. 3 Alex Rodriguez won 6-1, 6-2. Coby Teal won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4. Joey Jimenez and Joseph Domby won 6-1, 6-4, and 6-2, 6-2, at No. 5 and 6, respectively.
Luis Franco had the toughest test at No. 2 singles, winning 7-6, 7-5 for the Raiders.
Castro and Franco cruised to an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles, while at No. 3 Josh Lopez and Scott Stover won 8-7.
