Barczynski 40th at Thunderbird Invitational

Yuma Catholic's Samantha Barczynski finished 40th at the Thunderbird Invitational, one of the largest nonscoring meets in the state, on Saturday.

Barczynski, who was competing in the Girls Open race (juniors and seniors), finished the tough 2.7 mile course in 20 minutes, 30 seconds. She was followed by teammates Sarah Wentling (44, 20:58); Devon Graham (60, 21:58); Kristina Carroll (104, 25:29); and Beth Norton (107, 26:27).

In the Girls Novice (freshmen and sophomores), Jackie Hill was 69th (22:12) and Haylee Johnson was 116th (26:33).

There were at least 100 runners in each race.
